Ruth Walls – Gallery Owner –

Art Room 59

I opened Art Room 59 in autumn 2005.

Situated on the outskirts of Dunfermline town centre, the gallery provides a showcase for a variety of artists, craftspeople and designers, many of whom are local to Dunfermline and Fife.

My main aims are to raise the awareness of the creative talent within Fife and promote quality, original and affordable art across a wide range of disciplines including painting, ceramics, glass, metalwork  and jewellery to name a few, and in turn encourage more people to buy original, handcrafted work.

I have a regular exhibition programme and support artists at all stages of their careers, from graduates, newly emerging artists, and to those who have already established themselves.

Following a period working for Strathclyde Regional Council as a cameraman and community based video worker, he established Lanarkshire based, Artemis Films and produced a series of genre based feature films culminating in the MacTaggart Television Award Winner ‘Ghost Dancer’.

Following this, Graeme took up the post of Film & Media Development Officer for Fife Council. This resulted in a number of community based initiatives and the establishment of the Fife Film & Video Workshop, a training, equipment and crew resource. This later grew into the Moving Image Media Access Centre ( MIMAC ).
Following internal changes within Fife Council, MIMAC was transferred into the social enterprise sector and became the community interest company MiMAC-Rushes C.I.C. with Graeme as Director of Operations. MiMAC continues it’s role as a media access organisation and has recently added high definition to it’s facility hire service, launched Channel Fife a web broadcast TV channel and produced a major archival cinema project with the Scottish Screen Archive and the Glasgow Film Theatre. John Maclean
  JMC MarketingLtd

Established as Direct Marketing & Advertising in 1994 and renamed JMC Marketing in 2009, we quickly became a market leader in the provision of innovative, free-of-charge, marketing publications for solicitors, estate agents and football clubs throughout the UK. During this period, we identified a need for freely available, commercially-funded, reusable carrier bags in golf clubs and leisure centres.

In 1997, as our product and service reputation grew, we added the Library Book Carrier to our portfolio and these can now be found in many libraries throughout the UK. Thereafter followed a period of rapid growth and as a result of which we formed the limited company, Direct Marketing Scotland Ltd in December 2000.

Whilst the free-of-charge marketing products remain a core part of our business, we have continued to expand our creative design studio, our telemarketing division and our marketing campaign consultancy services enabling us to offer our clients a one-stop shop for all of their marketing and advertising needs.

More recently, we have established links with a family business in India who manufacture and supply a range of high quality
